I shot my first Princess Bride themed engagement photos this week! Angela and Chris emailed me with this concept, and I was so excited to bring it to life. They came prepared with the perfect costumes, a mask, and even a sword. They really channeled Westley and Buttercup, don’t you think?
I kicked off the wedding season this year shooting Meghan and Matt's wedding at Gramercy Mansion outside Baltimore. I shoot at least one wedding every year at this venue, and the outdoor gardens never fail to make a great backdrop for photography. In keeping with the garden theme, Meghan released a box of monarch butterflies during the ceremony, which is a cute idea I've never seen before.
For a D.C. wedding photographer, Joe and Pam's wedding was an absolute dream. Not only did they choose beautiful locations (Mayflower Hotel, DC War Memorial, Army Navy Club), but they budgeted a full 1.5 hours to shoot photos at the most iconic spots in the city. I always tell my clients the more time they set aside for photos, the better the results will be, and it definitely held true for Joe and Pam.

This weekend I photographed a lovely December wedding in Takoma Park, Maryland. Most couples wouldn't attempt outdoor photos when it's 28 degrees outside, but Naomi and Andrew braved the frigid temperatures and the shots turned out great. Luckily all the festivities were indoors at Republic restaurant, which was super cozy and stylish.

I just returned from photographing my first Michigan wedding in a lovely park next to Lake Huron. The groom, Nick, is an avid bicycler who rode all the way from Rome to Austria a couple summers ago. They really made this wedding their own by riding down the aisle on a tandem bicycle (to the song "A Bicycle Built for Two," naturally).
Taylor and Cory were so thrilled to be getting married, they had beaming smiles the entire day. Their happiness was so contagious, I kept catching myself grinning like a goofball from behind the camera. The wedding venue in Taylor's family holler in Ohio made this wedding all the sweeter.

Nick and Jess win my award for making the most out of a rainy wedding day. Their venue was a lovely waterfront house in eastern Maryland (booked off AirBnB), and they had to scrap their original plan for an intimate outdoor ceremony at the last minute. They hauled all the furniture out of an upstairs room and got married inside, surrounded by a circle of friends and family. When it came time for posed photos, everyone was armed with umbrellas for outdoor shots. Jess even offered to trudge into a wet field in her beautiful dress - but I think it's safe to say the pictures were worth it.

I shot my first wedding in Brooklyn this weekend, complete with a photo excursion to the oh-so-scenic Brooklyn Bridge Park. This was an extra special wedding for me, because I also photographed Kaitlin's sister's wedding in Washington, DC, in 2012.
These two were clearly crazy about each other, and their son could not get any cuter! I'm also in love with the back of Kaitlin's dress.

First Look!
This weekend I had the opportunity to shoot a destination wedding in Baja, Mexico! Mitch and Michelle are from Atlanta and decided to rent this gorgeous beach house for their wedding festivities. The out-of-the-way location in Bahia de los Suenos (about a 2.5-hour drive from Cabo San Lucas) was so peaceful - it felt like they had their own private beach. Congrats on a beautiful wedding Mitch and Michelle!
